I have been working as a sculptor, potter and poet for over thirty-five years. My work ranges from primitive pit fired pieces to multiple fired stoneware, combining both thrown and hand built techniques. During this time, I have had numerous exhibits, receiving both awards and praise from critics, ("virtuoso works in clay and glaze" - Vance Horne, The Olympian).
I am deeply committed to the development and integration of the arts within the community. In addition to my studio work, I have been teaching since 1978 to a broad range of students of varying ages, interests and ability levels. For the last several years I have been mentoring students privately and for the Whatcom Community College and the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation.
Whether in a traditional classroom setting, studio or in the home, students and teachers alike have found me to be an extraordinarily supportive and enthusiastic instructor enabling all who participate to feel successful with their efforts.
Because of the versatility of clay, I have found my extensive educational background in arts and sciences enables me to engage students across curriculums such as history, chemistry, geology, anthropology and archeology.
