Primitive "Pit Fired" clay is one of our oldest technologies and most ancient art forms. These "Scorched Earth" pieces are hand formed and textured with organic materials (leaves, mushrooms & shells) then fired in a layered mound of leaves, straw, sawdust and seaweed. The resulting mineral ash, resins, salts and carbon deposits create serendipitous colorations at the whim of the elements. Each piece is uniquely colored and textured--a celebration of the abundant life forms of the Pacific Northwest.
